Many commercial products nowadays contain chemicals which may be harmful for us. Even products that claimed to be made of natural ingredients may also contain ingredients that are artificially manufactured in the lab.

 

The exciting journey of creating my own products started when i bought an essential oil blend overseas. To my horror, besides essential oils, it also contains a substance called tocopheryl acetate.  Tocopheryl acetate is a form of vitamin E created in the laboratory by mixing the natural vitamin E with acetic acid, an acid used in the production of chemicals for photographic film, wood glue, and synthetic fibers and fabrics. The concern with this ingredient is that it can be potentially irritating to skin, causing redness, rashes, and potential allergic reactions.

 

Why would manufacturers mix perfectly good vitamin E with this irritating ingredient?

 

Adding tocopheryl acetate is cheaper and it makes the product longer lasting on the shelves. That makes it easier for manufacturers to process, ship, store, and sell their products.

After this shocking discovery, I began researching and exploring the possibility of creating the products myself.  I have been so used to buying things off shelves and hence, creating my own product can be very time-consuming and troublesome. However, it is worth the effort since I could be in control of what goes into the products that I use and ensure that they are safe for my family.

 

Crafted For You is set up knowing that also many people like me who are also looking for natural and safe products. However, due to their busy schedule, they may not have time to make their own products and hence I would like to share the products that I have crafted with like-minded individuals who are also looking out for such products.
